New tool: CrmDiagTool 2011

UPDATE: A new version is available on CodePlex

Hello CRM community!
Two months ago, Philippe Brissaud from Microsoft Canada asked me to help him migrate the well known CrmDiagTool 4 to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011. I guess you know what I answered him: of course I help!
Today, Philippe and I are proud to release this new version of CrmDiagTool.
We focused on Server diagnostics and removed features related to reporting services and email router.
The features are the following:
  • Enable/Disable tracing
  • Zip content of Trace directory
  • Open Trace directory
  • Generate diagnostic file in text or html format with components selection
  • Enable/Disable DevErrors

Regarding source code: As the previous version had not its source code released, this version does not too.

Appologies, Tanguy, but i can't accept your answer.
You are a leading developer, in a not-so-mature community. Obviously Microsoft is not leading the way or helping in anyway with growing our community as they do with the "regular" Dot.Net (and especially web) developers, but this does not mean we have to comply with that attitude.
It is allowed to say no and IMHO, if Microsoft insists that you release a tool that is harmful to the community, it is your duty - as a leading developer - to say no.

beautiful. The odd thing is CRM4 tool works with CRM 2011

excellent work chaps this is is one of the tools I use all the time if I need to quickly turn on debugging.

i don't really understand why you need the source code for this, all you need to do is use it.

The tool is crashing on one of my server while generating the report, i think it is related with the IIS settings collection

Thank you very much for this great upgrade. I would like to suggest for you to have the "Troubleshooting file for support" for SRSS Data Connector and Email router as well. As it was for CRM 4.0.

I am getting this error on crm data information :

Two plugins in one day! wow! This one was, in fact, developed a couple of months ago. One of my colleague was using a solution from my fellow MVP Andrii Butenko which allows to import/export NN relationships in a silverlight web resource. This was nice but my colleague was using other attributes than primary key to do the mapping and Andrii’s solution does not support this. So he asked me to develop a XrmToolBox’s plugin that could do this. And, here it is! You can select entities and relationships and moreover, choose mapping attributes on both enitities. New tool! Bulk Delete Launcher

Today, a new tool that allows you to run bulk deletion of records. Indeed, this feature of CRM is not accessible through the user interface but only with SDK. To use this tool, you must first create a view in the advanced search that will find the items you want to delete. Then just run the tool, to indicate on which entity (using the logical name of the entity) is the view advanced search and set scheduling options and recurrence (if desired). You can also request to receive an email from the CRM server when processing is complete. This option is available if the user account you use has an email address saved in the user profile CRM. Use feature flags in your plugins

Lately, there was a discussion on Twitter about the best practice to handle plugins: One class per plugin? One project per plugin? or anything else? On my side, I'm using one project for all the plugins for the same customer. This is what I answered on Twitter. Then came a question : How do I handle the fact that some plugins may have not been tested or completed yet and I need to release the plugins assembly. The answer was : Feature flag!
